
Sylvia Ohene-Adjei, morning show host and Head of Preview at the Pent Media Centre—the official media outlet of The Church of Pentecost— has earned a coveted spot in the highly competitive 2025–2026 CNN Academy Programme. Sylvia stood out among over 10,000 applicants from 129 countries, securing a spot in one of the most prestigious journalism training programmes in the world.
Sylvia expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the opportunity, “It’s a great honour to be part of a programme led by global media professionals. I’m looking forward to acquiring the skills and mentorship needed to tell stories that truly make an impact.
Supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the CNN Academy Programme is a global initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of journalistic talent. The programme offers a robust 12-course e-learning curriculum hosted at the CNN Academy Hub.
Each month, participants engage in modules that cover core areas of modern journalism, including Visual and audio storytelling, Mobile journalism, Fact-checking and verification, Interviewing techniques, Newsroom and deadline management, breaking news coordination
Upon completion of the online training, participants will be invited to pitch a unique story idea. A selected group will then travel to Abu Dhabi in November 2025 to participate in the CNN Academy Simulation Week—an immersive newsroom experience guided by CNN editors, producers, and media experts.
Launched in 2023, the CNN Academy has already trained more than 139 individuals from 30 institutions through its Abu Dhabi-based initiatives. The 2025–2026 cohort includes recent graduates and final-year undergraduates who have demonstrated a strong commitment to impactful storytelling.
As part of the programme, participants will also attend masterclasses led by internationally renowned media professionals. Past sessions have explored critical topics such as: Artificial Intelligence in Journalism, Cybersecurity and Press Safety, Climate Storytelling in the Digital Age As Sylvia Ohene-Adjei joins a distinguished cohort of emerging storytellers from around the world, her journey is expected to inspire many within the media landscape—especially young communicators across Africa—who aspire to use journalism as a tool for truth, transformation, and development.
