The Ghana Police Service has welcomed 545 new officers, who have recently graduated from an intensive training program and are now ready to enhance the nation’s security framework. Their induction comes at a crucial time as the government advances its ambitious 24-hour economy initiative.

Of the new officers, 298 are female, reflecting a deliberate effort to promote gender inclusivity within the force, while the remaining 247 are male. This diverse group is expected to enhance police visibility and responsiveness, both vital for supporting round-the-clock economic activity.

Commissioner of Police (COP) Dr. Ernest Owusu addressed the recruits, their families, and senior officials at the vibrant passing-out parade held at the Ashanti Regional Police Training School in Kumasi. He underscored the vital role the new officers will play in realising the government’s economic vision. “Your role,” COP Dr. Owusu stated, “is not merely to maintain law and order, but to be a cornerstone of national progress. The 24-hour economy demands vigilance, rapid response, and a proactive approach to security that you, our newest officers, are now equipped to provide.”

The ceremony, marked by precision drills and a strong sense of occasion, concluded with the officers officially joining the ranks. Their deployment across Ghana is anticipated to boost security for citizens and businesses operating beyond traditional hours, paving the way for sustained economic growth.
