The School Outreach Ministry (SOM) of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and the Ghana Education Service, celebrated the International Day of the Boy Child at the Pentecost Preparatory School, Ashaiman Estate.

The event, chaired by the PEMEM Director, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, who is also an Executive Council Member of the church, brought together students from various schools in municipality, headteachers, and representatives from the Ghana Education Service.

Held under the theme, ‘Unleashing the Boy Child Through Holistic Development,’ the event sought to raise awareness about the unique challenges boys face in today’s society and to advocate for support systems that nurture their mental well-being, character development, and moral uprightness.

The International Day of the Boy Child is observed globally each year on May 16. This year’s global theme was ‘Celebrating Boys: Empowering Boys for Balanced Mental Health and Moral Strength.’

In a keynote address, Apostle Prof. Joseph I. T. Buertey, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Science & Computing at the Pentecost University and Chairman of the SOM National Committee, delivering an inspiring speech on the theme for the occasion, stressed the urgent need to invest in the development of the boy child.

He highlighted four key dimensions of holistic empowerment: spiritual growth, intellectual development, emotional stability, and physical well-being.

He stressed that a boy who is nurtured in all these areas will grow to be mentally sound, physically strong, morally upright, and spiritually grounded, equipped to become a responsible leader in the future.

The Chairman for the occasion, Apostle Vincent Anane-Denteh, on his part, indicated the importance of creating awareness about the proper upbringing of the boy child, both mentally and physically by ensuring they are not subjected to any form of abuse.

The Greater Accra Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Peter Abledu Golden, also spoke about the measures being put in place to support the well-being and development of the boy child in schools across the region.

The National Coordinator of SOM, Pastor Frank Mensah Tandoh, expressed optimism about the positive impact the programme will have on the children.

The School Outreach Ministry also donated essential items to the Pentecost Preparatory School, Ashaiman, as part of the celebration.
