Residents of Salpond Ankaful are grappling with a severe water shortage that has persisted for months, leaving many dependent on a single local pond or purchasing water from external vendors at high costs.
The situation has significantly affected daily life in the community, making household chores and access to clean drinking water increasingly difficult. The local pond, once a vital resource, has become unreliable due to overuse and seasonal changes.
Issa Allasan, the Assemblyman for the area, expressed grave concern over the prolonged crisis, citing a blocked main water pipe as the root cause. He noted that despite repeated reports, the issue remains unresolved, worsening the burden on residents—especially the economically vulnerable.
Community members have appealed to both government authorities and private individuals to intervene and provide sustainable solutions, such as drilling boreholes or repairing damaged pipelines. They warn that without immediate support, the crisis could escalate into a public health emergency.
