The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Ho marked a vibrant Cultural Sunday on March 16, 2025, as part of the Heritage Month celebrations.

The intergenerational service brought together children and adults dressed in diverse cultural attire to worship.

A highlight of the event was a captivating dance performance by the Volta Regional Centre for National Culture, which received thunderous applause from the congregation.

Eli the Poet also graced the occasion, delivering a poem emphasising the harmony between tradition and Christianity, with the memorable line: ‘In the embrace of our culture, we should worship God.’

Deaconess Lydia Nyarko-Ampomah, who serves as both a church leader and Volta Regional Director for the Centre for National Culture, delivered an inspiring sermon titled ‘Celebrating Our Culture, Reflecting God’s Glory.’

Drawing from scriptures such as Proverbs 22:8, Ephesians 4:1, and Matthew 5:16, she encouraged members to appreciate their Ghanaian heritage while living lives that reflect their faith.

She indicated that culture and faith should unite rather than divide. She, therefore, advised Christians to embrace opportunities to serve as chiefs or queens in their communities.

She further urged parents to intentionally pass down positive aspects of Ghanaian culture, including local languages, to future generations. She stressed the importance of preserving cultural traditions, saying, ‘Walking the ancient path is not wrong at all; look for the good ones and walk in it.’

There was a team from Gideon’s International who participated in the service.

The celebrations also included a cooking competition held on Saturday, March 15, where various ministries showcased their culinary skills in preparing local dishes.

The Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) emerged as the winners in this contest.
