Elder Charles Bempong, a stalwart officer of The Church of Pentecost in Asamankese, alongside his wife, Deaconess Vida Bempong, have gracefully retired from active service yesterday.
At 73, Elder Bempong has been a pillar of strength for the church, particularly during a period of recent challenges within the Asamankese Area. His unwavering support has been instrumental in navigating these difficulties.
The retirement service was officiated by Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, and was attended by notable dignitaries, including Apostle Aidoo (Asamankese Area Head), Apostle Francis Yaw Adu (Nsawam Area Head), and Apostle Nana Yaw Agyei (Kade Area Head).
Elder Charles Bempong first embraced Christ and was baptised by immersion into The Church of Pentecost on January 6, 1974, under the leadership of the late Prophet M.K. Yeboah (who later became Chairman), in Koforidua. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1983 and elevated to Elder in 1984. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Presiding Elder at both Emmanuel Assembly (Koforidua District) and Amantra Assembly (Asamankese Anum District).
Deaconess Vida Bempong committed her life to Christ in 1972 and joined The Church of Pentecost. Her steadfast dedication to the Lord’s work led to her ordination as a Deaconess in 1987 by Apostle F.D. Walker. She has also served in various leadership roles, including as Local Women’s Ministry Leader at both Koforidua Adawso and Emmanuel Assembly (Koforidua).
Together, Elder and Deaconess Bempong have faithfully served the Lord and The Church of Pentecost for 42 and 38 years, respectively, before their retirement from active service last Sunday.
During the service, Amantra Assembly and the Anum Asamankese District honoured the couple for their exceptional contributions to the growth and development of the Church, presenting them with citations in recognition of their dedicated service.
