The Offinso Area of The Church of Pentecost held a colourful retirement service for Elder James Atta of Obofour Newtown District after he served the Church in various capacities for 29 years.
This programme, which took place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, was officiated by the Area Head, Apostle Samuel Edzii Davidson, and his wife, along with the area pastors and their wives.
Speaking on the theme, “Your Destiny is Glorious in God” with scriptural references from Romans 8:30, Jeremiah 1:5, and Isaiah 43:21, Apostle Davidson stated that one’s destiny in God’s glory is the fulfillment of their divine purpose. He emphasised that this destiny is meant to bring honor and glory to the Creator.
“Our destiny is in the full manifestation of the glory of our potential,” he said, “because a time is coming when we can no longer work. Our destiny is to stand out for God.”
He further stated that as Christians, we must produce excellent and outstanding results in all that we do.
Ending his message, the Area Head mentioned that the path to a glorious destiny includes the decision to live for God and not for oneself, the decision to please God and bring Him glory at all costs, and the decision to hold nothing back from God.
He encouraged the congregation to learn from the retiring elder, who gave his all for God and the Church, serving in various positions including Presiding Elder, District Secretary, District Finance Committee Chairman, and Area Electoral Committee Chairman.
During the same program, Elder Godson Boateng of Abofour Newtown District was awarded the Best Soul Winner for 2024. He single-handedly won 1,024 souls, comprising 617 adults and 409 children across the area. Of these, 425 were baptised in water, and one assembly was opened at the Tetrem District.
The Area Head, Apostle Samuel Edzii Davidson, commended Elder Boateng’s efforts and, on behalf of the area, honoured him with a certificate and a cash award of GH¢3,000.00.
