Deeds Impact Foundation Africa, a Non-Governmental Organisation, led by Phylis Osei-Korsah, has made a substantial donation to support the operations of the Great Mission International (GMI) Orphanage in Teshie-Nungua Estate, a suburb of Accra.
Among the items donated on the New Year Day are rice, oil, water, toiletries, pair of shoes, clothing, milk, books, worth about GHS 7,000.00.
The recent donation, described as their first significant contribution, was facilitated by Phylis Osei-Korsah, daughter of Apostle Dr Philip Osei-Korsah, the Director of the Counselling Ministry of The Church of Pentecost. She was accompanied by her family, and a team from Deeds Impact Foundation Africa.
Apostle Dr Osei-Korsah expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to support the inmates, stating, ‘We are here to show love to Great Mission International.’
The caretaker, Mrs. Emelia Abugzio, in turn, expressed profound appreciation for the support, emphasising its positive impact on the children and the organisation’s operations.
She highlighted GMI’s success stories, noting that some former inmates have completed tertiary education and are now professionals, including nurses, midwives, and human resources personnel at institutions like Absa Bank.
‘The orphanage’s mandate is to rehabilitate and reintegrate children into society, providing comprehensive care encompassing shelter, food, clothing, medical support, education, and mental health services, all grounded in the love and teachings of the Gospel,’ she said.
Great Mission International (GMI), a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting abandoned and trafficked children across Africa, operational for 18 years, has provided care and protection to over 1,000 children. Registered under the Department of Social Welfare, GMI offers temporary shelter, ensuring children do not stay for more than a year.
The facility accommodates a diverse group, including orphans, needy and abused children, those neglected, children of mentally challenged parents, and children with mental challenges themselves. The youngest resident is a month old, while the oldest is a 23-year-old tertiary student. Children attend schools within the community, integrating with local educational systems.
