The School Outreach Ministry (SOM) of Poyentanga District in the Wa Area of The Church of Pentecost has renewed and registered 980 students and their parents onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

According to the District Minister, Overseer Bright Alanyo, the 2-day exercise, which benefited 15 basic schools in 11 communities in the district, was organised to help people with financial constraints have access to free healthcare. It was carried out with the technical support from the staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) from the Wa Municipality.

‘The purpose of this exercise is to help enroll all students and parents who have financial difficulties in registering for the NHIS card or renewing their expired NHIS cards to access health care,’ the district minister explained.

Addressing students and parents at the registration centre, Overseer Alanyo asserted that The Church of Pentecost is not only interested in winning souls for Christ but is equally concerned about the health of the souls and the general wellbeing of students and their parents.

‘As leaders, it is our duty to see to the welfare of all persons and their health status,’ he stated.

Overseer Alanyo expressed his profound appreciation to the Wa Area Head, Pastor B. A. M. Abogorago, for his support and prayers for the success of the exercise.

Mrs Nancy Alanyo, the wife of the district minister, also advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the cards to serve the intended purpose.
