On May 13, 2021, Obed Eli Aglidza, 31, was arrested by the New Ayoma Police for attacking and robbing a mobile money vendor at Likpe Kukurantumi in the Oti Region of Ghana. Two weeks later, he was sentenced by a Jasikan Circuit Court to 12 years imprisonment with hard labour. This was after considerable evidence, including a handbag containing a specified amount of money and the mobile phone of the victim, was obtained and presented in court to implicate him. As he was being whisked away in a police vehicle, a visibly shaken Obed could not hide his tears and cast a demeanour of one who had learnt his lesson, albeit the hard way. He would be spending the next decade of his life confined in a facility. And to turn back time, then, as he had wished, was in no mortal man’s capacity to grant...

Pastors should be true examples of Christ – Apostle Eric Nyamekye

Ghana News, Pentecost News
The Vice Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Nyamekye, has urged pastors to live exemplary lives as many look up to them for inspiration and empowerment. He observed that the light which the gospel of Jesus Christ is supposed to shine in the world has become ineffectual because some clergymen are, by their deeds, blocking the light. The Church of Pentecost Chairman referred to instances where some pastors claim to multiply money for their congregants instead of using the Bible to teach them either how to improve themselves or be creative and proactive at work. “People are looking for Jesus in his pastors and they are not seeing it. Ministers are jars of clay containing the light of God. If we want God’s light to shine in the world, then the ve...

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, today visited members of the church in the Anyaa Ablekuma and Odorkor Areas who have been displaced due to the spillage of water from the Weija dam. According to the Chairman, the visit was to commiserate with the affected persons, pray with them and assess the extent of damage caused by the flood. Communities close to the Weija Dam, including Weija, Oblogo and Tetegu, have been submerged by a flood for the past three days after the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) opened five spill gates of the Weija dam to spill water to save it from collapse. Palaces Must Be Centres Of Christian Worship – Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong

Ghana News, Pentecost News
The Chief Executive Officer of Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has entreated the clergy to adopt the palaces as a centre of worship in rediscovering the purpose of the church. According to the Presbyterian Minister, often Christians see traditional leaders as idol worshippers. This impression, he said, is erroneous since chiefs can worship God and, therefore, require the word of God in leading the people. Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong made this call on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the All Ministers’ Conference, hosted by The Church of Pentecost at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoah-Fetteh. Speaking on the topic, “Influencing the Chieftaincy Institution with Kingdom Values and Principles,” the former General Secretary of the Christi...
