Kumasi: 2 suspects arrested for murder of young woman at Apaaso.

The Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old woman, Princess Afia Ahenkan at Apaaso near Sokoban Ampabame in the Ashanti Region. They are Allister John, who was the house-help of the deceased, and his alleged accomplice, James Anokye. The Police in a Facebook post on Friday stated that the two suspects were apprehended through a targeted intelligence-led operation on 14th September 2023. “The operation followed a Police report on the whereabouts of the deceased and the subsequent discovery of her body in the garage of her residence by the Police crime scene experts,” it added. Police and Presidency perceived as Ghana’s most corrupt institutions – Afrobarometer

The Ghana Police Service and the Office of the President are perceived as the country’s most corrupt institutions. This is the outcome of an Afrobarometer study undertaken by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana). The research found that the Police’s score of 65% placed it at the top of the chain while the Presidency followed in second position with 55%. The report also placed members of Parliament as the third group of people in the pack with a score of 54%. Per the assessment, positive ratings of the President’s performance declined by 31 percentage points between 2019 and 2022, from 61% to 30%. The police administration has hinted that it has put in place stringent measures to provide security during the upcoming World Cup qualifiers between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi .It has also assured the officials of the Ghana Football Association, Confederation of African Football, and the world football body, FIFA, that it will spare no effort to ensure an incident-free event by deploying enough security personnel in and around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and within the Kumasi Metropolis.
