Public transport operators reduce fares by 10% from May 17

Following continuous reduction in prices of petroleum products in recent weeks, transport operators have agreed to review fares downwards effective Wednesday, May 17, 2023. The decision was announced in a statement released by the Road Transport Operators on Monday, May 15. In a statement jointly signed by the General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council, Emmanuel Ohene Yeboah, and Godfred Adulbire, General Secretary of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), the operators said the decision is in line with “Administrative Arrangement on Public Transport Fares, to accommodate for reductions in prices of petroleum products observed over the period.” The new fares will affect shared taxis, intra-city (trotro), intercity (long distance buses) and haulage ...

Suspected food poisoning: 22 people hospitalised after eating food at funeral

Twenty-two people from Agou, farming community in the Nkwanta South of the Oti Region have been hospitalised due to an alleged food poisoning. The victims are said to have suffered acute diarrhea and other symptoms after eating at a funeral on Sunday morning. While 13 of them have been admitted to Nkwanta South Municipal whilst nine others are also on admission at the Nkwanta St. Joseph Catholic Hospital. The Medical Superintendent of Nkwanta Municipal Hospital, Dr.Theophilus Amoatey, in an interview, revealed that all the victims came with complaints of vomiting and acute diarrhea. Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of the Church, announced this at the 46th General Council Meetings of the Church held at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, held from May 3-5, 2023. The Offinso and Obuasi Areas followed closely behind Berekum, retaining their impressive rankings from 2021.
