KTU Receives 83 Handcrafted Keyholders
A Graphic Design lecturer, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology (FAST) at the Koforidua Technical University, Samuel Osei Sarpong, has made a special donation to the University.
Mr. Sarpong presented 83 handcrafted key holders to the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Owusu on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, flanked by the Registrar, Evelyn Fafa Adom, and Professor Joseph Osei, Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST).
‘As a lecturer, usually, I have to go for keys at the security post and sometimes it takes a long time to identify a particular key because either the number is rubbed off or it is made of paper…. So I thought it wise why not to, in my small way help the University by creating these handcrafted ‘key holders’’ he noted.

Christians Urged To Walk Away From Contentious People
The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised Christians on the need to stay away from contentious people.
He mentioned that such people believe only in their opinions and see anyone who disagrees with them as an enemy, warning Christians to be cautious in their interactions with them.

Adults aged 25 and above constitute majority of HIV population – AIDS Commission
The Ghana AIDS Commission has raised concerns about the rising rate of new HIV infections and the demographics most affected in the country.
The Commission underscored the urgent need for Ghana to implement strategies to achieve epidemic control.
From 2013 to 2023, Ghana experienced a 9.0% increase in its HIV population, with projections indicating a further 6.8% increase by 2030.
Despite a 14.8% reduction in new HIV infections, totaling 17,774 cases, the country also recorded 12,480 deaths due to AIDS, representing a 20.5% decrease in annual AIDS-related deaths from 2013 to 2023, with an anticipated further decline of 58.1% from 2023 to 2030.

Ghana recorded 17,774 new HIV infections in 2023
Data from the 2023 national and sub-national HIV and AIDS estimates and projections showed 17, 774 people- 6,457 males and 11, 317 females- became newly infected with HIV in that year.
The number comprises 4,869 youth between 15 and 24, 1,698 children under 15, 1,520 adolescents between 10 and 19, and 16,076 adults above 15.
Dr Kyeremeh Atuahene, Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission who disclosed this in Accra on Wednesday, said that the projection showed a 14.8 per cent decrease in new infections between 2013 and 2023
“The data indicates that Ghana has not been able to achieve its annual target of a 17 per cent reduction in new HIV infections in the last ten year,” he said.

Top doctor alarmed by weight-loss drug misuse
NHS England's medical director says he is alarmed by reports that people are using weight-loss drugs as "a quick fix" to lose a few pounds and get "beach-body ready" this summer.
