Women’s Ministry Directorate Donates To Nana Afrakoma On Her 60th Anniversary

The Women’s Ministry Directorate of The Church of Pentecost, led by Mrs Philomina Mireku, visited the Akwamuman Royal Palace on September 13, 2024, to congratulate Nana Afrakoma II, the Queen of Akwamuman, on the 60th anniversary of her reign. Nana Afrakoma became queen at the age of 18 and is recognised as the leader of all Queen Mothers in Ghana due to her extensive experience and peaceful leadership. During their visit to the Agormanya Area of the church, the Directorate took the opportunity to visit the queen at her palace. Over 4,000 breast cancer cases are recorded in Ghana every year. Limited awareness of the disease, inadequate screening and treatment centres have been some of the factors driving the increase in infections. Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai, Chief Executive of Breast Care International, who stated this, said breast cancer had become a significant public health concern claiming the lives of many women in Ghana. The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has issued an ultimatum to government, threatening a nationwide strike by the end of September 2024 if a total ban on illegal mining aka “galamsey,” is not imposed. Online overtakes TV in survey of news habits

Online has for the first time overtaken television in an annual survey of the UK's news habits. Research by the broadcast regulator Ofcom reveals 71% of the population said they used online services for news versus 70% for TV news bulletins. Over the last year, online sources grew from 68% to 71%, while social media also saw a rise from 47% to 52%. For people aged between 16 and 24, the number saying they use social media for news was 82% The most commonly mentioned online news sources were Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
