Women’s Euro 2022: England beat Germany to win first women’s major trophy
England created history when Chloe Kelly’s extra-time goal saw them win their first major women’s tournament on a dramatic day at Wembley Stadium in the Euro 2022 final against old rivals and eight-time champions Germany.

Ghanaian Cardinal elected Head of the Catholic Church in Africa
The Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) (www.SECAM.org), the association of Catholic Bishops of Africa, Madagascar, and the Islands, has elected His Eminence Richard Kuuia Baawobr of Ghana as its new President.
His Eminence Richard Kuuia Baawobr is now the highest-ranking member of the Roman Catholic Church in Africa.
The election took place in Accra, Ghana, during the 19th Plenary Assembly of SECAM, whereby 130 participants, including cardinals and bishops representing over 600 catholic bishops of Africa came from all corners of the continent.

Pastor Dr. Felix Dela Klutse, the Head of Media Department of The Church of Pentecost was adjudged the winner of the prestigious 2022 Pan-African Media Awards at an international award ceremony held in Lagos, Nigeria on Friday.
The Pan-African Media/Journalism Awards was initiated by Continental Reinsurance (the largest insurance company in Africa) in 2015 to recognise and acknowledge the good works of individuals and media practitioners, who have contributed to the growth of the African Media landscape and other sectors of the African economy over the years.

Decentralise food supplies to SHSs – PIAC
The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has urged the government to decentralise the procurement and management of food supplies to senior high schools (SHSs) across the country to avert the recurrent food shortages in schools.
According to the committee, the prevailing system of distributing the foodstuffs was also expensive, and so allowing schools to purchase the food items from the local market could forestall food shortages in the institutions and also help sustain the Free SHS policy. “If the government really wants the Free SHS policy to survive, it should decentralise the procurement of food supplies to SHSs and ensure timely release of funds,” the committee added.

Ghana face Switzerland in pre-World Cup friendly in November
The Black Stars of Ghana will for the first time in history play against Switzerland in an International friendly before their opening match at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 toumament.
The game will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Baniyas Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi -United Arab Emirates.
The match will give Coach Otto Addo a perfect opponent for the Group H opener against Portugal at the 974 stadium.
The Black Stars will later take on South Korea (November 28) and Uruguay (December 2) while Switzerland face Cameroon (24 November), Brazil (28 November) and Serbia (December 2) on the same days as the “Black Stars” in Group G.

Pentecost Preparatory School Makes History
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana on Friday, June 17, 2022, organised and supervised the 2022/2023 academic year elections of Pentecost Preparatory School, Ansaful (PPS-Ansaful) at the school premises.
This historic event was held under the auspices of Apostle Samuel Out-Appiah (Winneba Area Head, The Church of Pentecost), Elder Ishmael K.A. Otabil (Headteacher, PPS-Ansaful), and Pastor Kwao Dosu (Manager, PPS -Ansaful)
According to Elder Ishmael Otabil, the motive of involving the EC in the school’s elections is to train and educate students on democratic governance and the act of exercising their franchise.

E-Levy yields GH¢93.7m in 2 months
The government mobilised GH¢93.7 million revenue from the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) in the first two months of implementation.
The amount, mobilised in May and June this year, was about 93.59 percent lower than the GH¢1.46 billion target set in this year’s budget.
Due to this, the government has revised the revenue target for the levy from the initial annual projection of GH¢6.96 billion to GH¢611 million in the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review released last Tuesday.
From the revenue side, data from the fiscal policy review indicated that the lower-than-targeted outcome reflected the performance of almost all the revenue lines.

Countries with cheapest mobile data: Where does Ghana rank?
Ghana has made it onto the list of countries with the cheapest mobile data in the world.
This conclusion came from a survey conducted by The Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022 report.
It was compiled by Cable.co.uk which saw data from 5,292 mobile data plans analysed from 233 countries.
The findings were based on how much one gigabyte (GB) of data costs in the selected countries.
Ghana placed 40th with an average price of $0.61 (¢5.12) per gigabyte after 12 data plans were examined.
In Africa, however, Ghana is ranked second after Libya. Somalia and Morocco came in third and fourth, respectively.
In all, Israel comes top with $0.04 per GB, followed by Italy, San Marino and Fiji as countries whose users enjoy the cheapest mobile data.
