Swiss judges found ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter and French football legend Michel Platini not guilty of corruption charges on Friday.  “My fight is a fight against injustice. I won a first game,” said Platini on his acquittal. Prosecutors acquitted Blatter on charges of unlawfully funneling 2 million Swiss francs ($2.06 million) of FIFA funds to Platini, a former France national team captain and manager in 2011. Blatter headed FIFA for 17 years. Platini hoped to be his successor. The prosecution sought a suspended sentence of one year and eight months for both men. Japan's former prime minister Shinzo Abe has died in hospital after he was shot at a political campaign event, say local media. Mr Abe was shot at twice while he was giving a speech in the southern city of Nara on Friday morning. He immediately collapsed and was rushed to the nearest hospital. Pictures taken at the scene showed him bleeding. Security officials at the scene tackled the gunman, and the 41-year-old suspect is now in police custody. In an emotional press conference earlier, prime minister Fumio Kishida told reporters that Mr Abe was in a "very grave condition". The Ghana Health Service has asked all health workers, especially Regional and Teaching Hospitals to be on the lookout for the outbreak of the Marburg virus disease following two fatal cases in the Ashanti Region. Health workers are to “exercise a high index of suspicion for persons who may present with bleeding tendencies”, a statement issued by the GHS, signed by its Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye counseled. The cases were said to have been recorded in the Adansi North District of Ashanti, and while preliminary investigations have yet to establish a link between the two cases, 34 contacts have been identified and are under quarantine being monitored for the maximum incubation period of 21 days. This is a single AI model that is the first to translate across 200 different languages, including 55 African languages with state-of-the-art results. Meta is using the modelling techniques and learnings from the project to improve and extend translations on Facebook, Instagram, and Wikipedia. In an effort to develop high-quality machine translation capabilities for most of the world’s low-resource languages, this single AI model was designed with a focus on African languages. A Nigerian has been extradited from Ghana to the United States over his alleged involvement in fraud and information theft against some victims in Northern Ohio, and other places. 31-year-old Blessing Adeleke had earlier been arrested in Accra by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, March 14, 2022. He is facing 17 counts of indictment with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and 16 counts of bank fraud using an online business. The Mental Health Authority (MHA) in Ghana has revealed that relationship breakups (divorce), graduate unemployment and financial distress are the leading causes of suicide in Ghana currently, especially among the youth between 16 and 35 years. Some parts of Accra were again hit by floods after a downpour that lasted about two hours yesterday[July 5, 2022] morning.
