Residents of Kawampe, a community in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region, have praised The Church of Pentecost for the construction and commissioning of an ultra-modern police station, describing the facility as a timely response to rising security concerns in the area.
The facility was officially commissioned and dedicated on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The project, which is the third police station established by the Church across the country, forms part of the Church’s “Possessing the Nations” agenda, an initiative that combines spiritual outreach with social development.
Kawampe, a community of over 6,000 people located along a major highway to northern Ghana, has in recent years experienced recurring armed robbery attacks, particularly targeting commuters.
The new police post is however expected to enhance security presence and deter criminal activities in the area.
The facility includes a charge office, station officer’s office, CID unit, exhibit room, armoury, as well as male and female holding cells.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, who represented the Chairman, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, emphasised the Church’s broader mission, saying, “The Possessing the Nations agenda is not only about spiritual transformation but also about meeting the socio-economic needs of communities.”
He added: “This police station is a direct response to the concerns of the people and our commitment to supporting national security.”
Apostle Obuobi indicated that the Church continues to invest in sectors such as education, healthcare, and skills development across the country.
He further reaffirmed the church’s commitment to justice, safety and security.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, commended the Church for what he described as a “strategic and impactful intervention.”
“This facility will go a long way to improve security in Kawampe and its surrounding communities,” he said, adding, “Government remains committed to strengthening security through initiatives like the 24-hour policing system under the 24-hour economy policy.”
He also urged stakeholders to ensure proper maintenance of the facility to sustain its benefits.
Representing the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohonu, the Director-General of the National Police Protection Department, Dr. Saibu Gariba, noted that the new station would significantly boost police operations in the area.
“This facility will enhance police visibility and help address issues such as robbery and chieftaincy disputes that have affected the area,” he said.
He urged the youth to stay away from social vices and support efforts to maintain law and order.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by church leaders, government officials, traditional authorities, and members of the community.
