The Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), successfully hosted the Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone Conference from March 23 to 29, 2026, aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of God’s Word and reaffirming the central role of Scripture in Christian living.
Held under the theme, “Building ourselves up in our most holy faith through sound doctrine and biblical truth,” drawn from Jude 1:20 and related scriptures, the conference focused on grounding participants in sound doctrine and encouraging the practical application of biblical truth. The week-long programme featured seasoned ministers who delivered teachings on biblical interpretation, Christian living and spiritual discipline.
Among the speakers were Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of The Church of Pentecost; Rev. William Kugbeadjor, Principal of Birmingham Christian College in the United Kingdom; Pastor Emmanuel Nana Asante, National Head of COP-Israel; and Apostle Professor Christian Tsekpoe, Head of Ministerial Formation and Training at the Pentecost School of Theology and Mission, Pentecost University.
Opening the conference on March 23, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah delivered a message on the theme, “Christianity in Action: Living Out the Word Daily.” He emphasised that living according to God’s Word reveals His glory through the believer’s life. He explained that the Word of God is indivisible, eternal and made visible through Christ, urging participants to demonstrate Christ-like character through daily obedience and practical living.
On the second day, Rev. William Kugbeadjor taught on the topic, “Understanding the Bible for Teaching and Preaching.” He stressed the importance of disciplined study and accurate interpretation of Scripture, noting that ministers and teachers carry the responsibility of communicating God’s Word faithfully. He highlighted the need to understand biblical texts within their original historical and cultural context to prevent misinterpretation and ensure proper application in contemporary life.
Pastor Emmanuel Nana Asante also delivered a message centred on the person and authority of Jesus Christ. He affirmed the historical reality of Jesus Christ and underscored His role as both fully God and fully man. He further highlighted the authority in the name of Jesus and encouraged believers to live out their faith boldly, demonstrating the transformative power of Christ in daily life.
The conference climaxed on March 29 with a message by Apostle Professor Christian Tsekpoe, who reiterated that spiritual growth requires personal commitment and discipline. Drawing from Jude 1:21, he encouraged participants to intentionally build their faith through consistent study, meditation and obedience to Scripture. He emphasised that spiritual maturity is achieved gradually through deliberate engagement with God’s Word.
The conference recorded strong participation from students and associates, many of whom expressed renewed commitment to studying and living according to Scripture. A notable highlight of the event was the presentation of Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah’s autobiography, Myth or Mystery, to participants, serving as a lasting reminder of the lessons shared during the conference.
Overall, the Sola Scriptura Conference 2026 reaffirmed the enduring relevance of Scripture as the foundation of Christian faith and practice, inspiring participants to pursue spiritual growth through sound doctrine and faithful obedience to God’s Word.
