The Home and Urban Missions (HUM) Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has successfully conducted a five-day evangelistic outreach and training programme in the Akim Oda Area, resulting in 159 souls won for Christ.
The outreach, held from Wednesday, March 18 to Sunday, March 22, 2026, formed part of HUM’s mandate to reach unreached groups, including Northerners living in southern Ghana, African migrants, drug addicts, commercial sex workers, and other vulnerable urban populations.
The team was led by the National HUM Coordinator, Pastor Benjamin Ofei-Badu, alongside the Akim Oda Area Head, Pastor Samuel Acquaah. Other ministers who supported the outreach included Pastor James Amoah Mensah, Koforidua Sector Pastor; Pastor Francis Kofi Gyimah, Ofoase District Minister; Pastor Eric Kwadwo Darko, Nkwateng District Minister; and Overseer Francis Antwi Asiamah, the Area HUM Coordinator. The team ministered in several communities within the Area, including Ofoase, Nkwateng, Chia and Brenase.
A major highlight of the programme was a market evangelism exercise held at Ofoase Market on Friday, March 20, 2026. During the outreach, Pastor James Amoah Mensah delivered a message on the theme, “What Must I Do to Be Saved?” based on Acts 16:30–31. He encouraged traders and market patrons to place their trust in Jesus Christ as the source of salvation and eternal life, drawing lessons from the biblical account of Paul and Silas.
The outreach also featured ghetto evangelism, video evangelism and a training session for HUM members held at Nkwateng Central, which recorded the participation of about 35 members. These activities were aimed at equipping members to effectively reach targeted groups within urban settings.
At the end of the exercise, a total of 159 souls were recorded as converts, comprising 88 adults and 71 children. Eight of the converts were baptised in water. Among the converts were 34 individuals reached during a targeted ghetto outreach at Ofoase, made up of 24 drug addicts and 10 commercial sex workers, most of whom were Nigerians. Additionally, 25 souls were won through a video evangelism exercise at Ofoase Station, while other communities such as Chia, Brenase and Nkwateng also recorded significant responses.
Plans are currently underway to establish two new Cells at Chia and Ofoase to help nurture the new converts. District leadership will also continue baptism and follow-up activities to support their spiritual growth. However, heavy rains on Sunday delayed the commencement of meetings at Ofoase.
The HUM team has further appealed for rehabilitation support for some of the drug addicts and commercial sex workers who responded to the gospel message.
Expressing his appreciation, Pastor Samuel Acquaah commended the HUM team for the impactful outreach, describing it as an eye-opener to the Area on the relevance of the HUM ministry. He assured the team of the Area’s commitment to follow up on the converts and sustain outreach efforts among targeted groups.
The Home and Urban Missions (HUM) Ministry of The Church of Pentecost is dedicated to reaching migrants, expatriates, the urban poor and other unreached groups with the message of Christ.
