The Deputy Director of the Evangelism Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Elder Ismael Edzekumhene, has asserted that the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ remains the sole foundation for the forgiveness of sins.
Elder Edzekumhene made this declaration on March 12, 2026, during the “Sefwi Bekwai for Christ Crusade,” held at the R/C School Park at Sefwi Bekwai in the Western North Region. He spoke on the theme, “Jesus Christ, the Accredited Saviour of the World.”
According to him, Jesus Christ is not merely one among many saviours but the sole accredited Saviour of the world, emphasising that no human being who has ever lived can legitimately claim the power to save the world.
“Jesus came to save the world, and He is still saving the world today,” he stated, adding that the same Christ who came to redeem humanity will one day return as judge.
He stressed that acknowledging Christ as the only Saviour must go beyond mere celebration, urging believers to actively proclaim this truth to others.
Explaining the basis of salvation, the deputy evangelism director referenced Hebrews 9:22, which teaches that nearly everything is cleansed by blood and that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. He noted that since salvation involves the forgiveness of sins, it was necessary for someone to shed blood on behalf of humanity.
“If salvation is about forgiving sins, then it is impossible for sins to be forgiven unless blood is shed,” he explained, adding, “No one can save humanity unless that person is prepared to shed his blood.”
He, therefore, pointed out that because Jesus Christ shed His blood for humanity, God has given Him an accredited name above every other name by which people must be saved.
Citing Revelation 5:9, he emphasised that Jesus alone paid the redemptive price for humanity, making Him the only legitimate source of salvation.
To illustrate his point, Elder Edzekumhene compared salvation outside Christ to obtaining a certificate from an unaccredited university.
“If you attempt to obtain salvation without Christ, it will be like receiving a certificate from an unaccredited university,” he said, stressing, “Such a certificate will not be recognised because the institution itself is not accredited.”
He further explained that Jesus Christ is the only person through whom humanity can have a genuine relationship with God.
Elder Edzekumhene further stated that since Jesus paid the ultimate price for humanity’s redemption, He has every right to judge those who reject Him.
Quoting Acts of the Apostles 24:25, he warned against postponing the decision to accept Christ, saying, “There is no convenient time to accept Jesus.”
The “Sefwi Bekwai For Christ Crusade” is expected to end on March 14, 2026, with a free medical screening exercise and a special service for children.
