The second day of the 2026 Easter Convention of The Church of Pentecost in the Kpetoe Zone was marked by a clarion call for spiritual renewal. Delivering a sermon titled, “Reawakening the Easter Story,” the Ho Area Head, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, urged Christians to rediscover the true essence of Easter.
Preaching on the theme, “Unleashed to Tell of the Crucified and Resurrected Christ,” Apostle Kwafo drew from John 10:14-18 and John 19:1-15 and warned that many believers have grown indifferent, reducing Easter to holidays, festivities, and commercial pursuits.
“The church must rise and reawaken the true meaning of Easter,” he declared, describing it as the most important story ever told, demonstrating God’s plan of salvation for humanity across generations.
He outlined the central pillars of the Easter message: Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, ascension, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and His second coming. These, he said, form the foundation of Christian faith and must be preserved without compromise.
“There is no name in heaven, on earth, or under the earth by which we can be saved except the name of Jesus Christ,” he affirmed.
Apostle Kwafo described Jesus as the Good Shepherd who willingly laid down His life, emphasising that His sacrifice was voluntary and motivated by love. He recounted Christ’s suffering under Roman authority, noting that His crucifixion was the price paid for humanity’s sins.
He stressed that Easter is not myth but historical truth, witnessed and handed down by the early church. Citing 1 Corinthians 15:3 and 1 John 1:1-4, he underscored the reality of Christ as the Word of Life — seen, heard, and touched — and affirmed His promise to return in judgment and salvation.
He cautioned against distortions of the Easter message, urging believers to guard its purity, teach it diligently to their children, and embed it in family devotion. He challenged Christians to share the story intentionally in homes, marketplaces, and communities, extending its impact even to future generations.
Calling for reverence during the season, Apostle Kwafo encouraged fasting, reflection, and dedicated worship to restore its sacredness.
