The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, has stated that while the incomprehensibility of God may be difficult to grasp, the answer to life’s challenges has always been the abiding presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
Speaking at the Officers’ Retreat for officers in Kumasi on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Asokwa Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Kumasi, on the theme: “The Holy Spirit Shall Come Upon You and the Power of the Most High Will Overshadow You” (Luke 1:29–38), Apostle Dr Nyamekye encouraged believers to cultivate steadfast faith, stressing that officers of the church must exemplify strong faith to inspire members in fulfilling God’s purpose.
Expounding on the angel Gabriel’s annunciation to Mary, Apostle Dr Nyamekye noted that her question, “How will this be?” reflected the natural human concern with practicalities. Yet, he said, the divine response was clear: with God, all things are possible.
“You may not be able to figure out how it is going to happen or how the situation will be turned around, but there is abundant evidence that what God has said, He will do,” he declared.
He cautioned against the tendency to complain, which he described as a distraction from receiving from God. Citing the man at the pool of Bethesda, who lamented his 38 years of infirmity when asked by Jesus if he wished to be healed, Apostle Dr Nyamekye said: “The answer has always been the same – the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.”
The Chairman further warned believers to be discerning about what they hear, as hearing shapes conduct, faith, or fear, saying, “Both faith and fear come by hearing. Fear paralyses, but faith quickens and revives.”
Illustrating with the story of Jairus in Mark 5:21–23, Apostle Dr Nyamekye explained how the report of his daughter’s death could have extinguished faith, yet Jesus’ presence brought life. He urged Christians not to be swayed by discouraging voices but to build faith through God’s word.
“There are many voices in this world – the devil speaks, people speak, our own spirit speaks, and God also speaks. No matter how reasonable a voice may sound, consider its source and content carefully,” he advised.
Apostle Dr Nyamekye concluded by admonishing the gathering not to be enslaved by fear but to strengthen their faith through right hearing, thereby deepening their connection with God for effective Kingdom work.
