The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, has joined the Yendi Area for its 2025 Christmas Convention, which is being held across several Districts and Zones within the Area.
The visit began on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Saboba District, where the Chairman commenced a tour that will take him to five other zones, namely Zabzugu, Tatale, Makayile, Bimbila, and Yendi. The convention will climax with a grand Area joint service in the heart of Yendi on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Speaking at the Saboba Central and English Assembly on the topic “The Importance of the Virgin Birth,” Apostle Nyamekye stated that the Christian faith is firmly anchored on two foundational truths.
“The Christian belief rests on the birth of Christ and His resurrection,” he explained. “The celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is what we call Christmas, while His death and resurrection form the basis of Easter. These two events distinguish Christianity from all other religions.”
Describing the virgin birth as both profound and true, the Chairman encouraged believers to use the Christmas season to exalt the name of the Lord.
“The story of the virgin birth is amazing and true,” he said. “At Christmas, let us lift up the name of the Lord, and at Easter, let us boldly proclaim that Jesus died and was resurrected for our sake.”
Addressing debates surrounding the exact date of Christ’s birth, Apostle Nyamekye dismissed the argument that Christmas should not be celebrated because Jesus was not born on December 25.
“Not knowing the exact date of Jesus Christ’s birth should not prevent us from celebrating it,” he stressed. “His birth gives glory to God and gives us joy because it assures us that Christ truly came for our salvation.”
He further noted that despite humanity’s diverse backgrounds and moral standards, all people share a common need for salvation.
“We may belong to different religions, races, and moral systems, but the truth remains that humanity is fallen and corrupt by nature,” he stated. “That is why the coming of Christ is so significant.”
Present at the service were Mrs Mary Nyamekye, wife of the Chairman; the Yendi Area Head, Apostle James Magyam, and his wife, Cecilia; pastors serving in the Saboba Zone of the Yendi Area; as well as ministerial students from Pentecost University who are on internal mission placement.
