The Church of Pentecost has bid a farewell to Apostle Samuel Osei Asante and his wife, Elizabeth, as they gracefully retired from active service after 32 years of dedicated full-time ministry.
The glorious retirement service, held on August 17, 2025, at the Kaneshie Worship Centre Auditorium, was officiated by the Chairman, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, with support from several Area heads, ministers, officers, and members of the church.
In a sermon on the theme, ‘That I May Know Him,’ with reference from Philippians 3:10, Apostle Nyamekye reminded believers to take a mature view of things to know Christ better and pursue God. He urged Christians to understand that their greatest most sacred ambition should be the knowledge of God. The Chairman described Apostle S. O. Asante as a contented servant of God whose greatest desire is to serve God beyond conditions or reservations.
The event attracted ministers (both active and retired), traditional leaders, family, and congregants from stations where the couple had served. Tributes poured in, highlighting their spiritual impact, mentorship, and leadership.
Paying a glowing compliment to the retiring couple, the Chiefs of Kwashieman described Apostle Samuel Osei Asante as development conscious, industrious, humble, and full of integrity. And for the mark that his ministry had left in their traditional area, they conferred on him the title ‘Nana OseadeƐyo’.
Various groups, including the Area Pastorate, Presbytery, Women’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Pentecost University presented citations and gifts in appreciation of the couple’s years of sacrificial service. A Certificate of Service was also presented to them on behalf of the General Council of the church.
Apostle Samuel Osei Asante was called into full-time ministry in 1993 and served in Tamale South District before going on secondment to Headquarters where he faithfully served in these capacities: Administrative Secretary to General Secretary (Apostle Albert Amoah, now retired), Lecturer at Pentecost University College (now Pentecost University), and Team Leader/Country Director, African Enterprise. While on secondment to the Headquarters he worshipped with Russia Assembly (now Russia Worship Centre) Dansoman District; Ebenezer Assembly in Madina District; James McKeown Worship Centre (JMWC), and Love Worship Centre (LWC) in Kaneshie Area. He was called into the office of Apostle in 2014 and sent New Tafo Area, Kumasi (2014-2018), Koforidua Area (2018-2022), and Kaneshie Area (2022-2025).
Throughout his ministry, he was celebrated for his deep spirituality, teaching gift, leadership, and development. Under his leadership, the first-ever Palace Assembly in The Church of Pentecost was established at Kwashieman Palace and equipped with all the necessary equipment for church service.
Mrs Elizabeth Osei Asante, his wife, was equally honoured for her prayer life, hospitality, and motherly care. She played a vital role in nurturing ministers’ wives and strengthening the Women’s Ministry.
The couple’s ministry raised leaders, discipled nations, and touched lives immeasurably. As they retire, the General Council extolled their faith-filled legacy and committed them to God’s continual blessing.
