The Church of Pentecost has bid farewell to Apostle Amishadai Dwomoah Amankwah, former Area Head for Techiman, whose remains were laid to rest on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The solemn memorial and burial service took place at the Techiman Methodist Park in the Bono East Region, drawing a large gathering of church leaders, members, and dignitaries.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, who officiated the service, urged the bereaved family and congregation to find solace in the resurrection of Christ.

“Long life is a desire for all, but sometimes we do not get what we desire. Some leave the earth early, but a life well-lived doesn’t depend on its length,” he remarked.

He emphasised that the resurrection offers believers the assurance that death is not the end, but a transition to eternal life.

Born on September 20, 1970, in Accra, Apostle Amankwah was the fifth of six children to the late Opanyin Oscar Kwadwo Amankwah and Deaconess Mercy Okohbea Amankwah (retired). In 2002, he married Ms. Juliet Amoabea Asare, and together they were blessed with four daughters.

He also adopted Ms. Sarah Nyarko, now Mrs. Sarah Armoh, who married just two weeks before his passing.

Apostle Amankwah’s ministerial journey began in 2002 at the Adanse Anhwiaso District in the Obuasi Area.

He subsequently served in various districts, including Ekye Amanfrom in the Afram Plains Area, Kwasimintsim and Kwasimintsim Ridge in the Takoradi Area, and as National Head for Ethiopia. His final assignment was as Area Head for Techiman.

In her tribute, Mrs. Juliet Amankwah described her husband as her rock, confidant, and best friend.

“His kindness, sense of humour, laughter, humility, and unwavering spirit touched everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and joy,” she said.

The children expressed their profound grief, stating, “Though we knew he was sick, we never imagined that he would be taken away from us so soon. We were overjoyed to have him back in Ghana after his six-and-a-half-year mission work in Ethiopia, cherishing the opportunity to be in his presence once more.”

The General Council of The Church of Pentecost lauded Apostle Amankwah for his humility, dedication, and commitment to the Great Commission.

“He was not only a leader but also a shepherd who guided his congregations with compassion and wisdom,” the tribute read.

The service was attended by several dignitaries, including Apostle Eric Nyamekye (Chairman, The Church of Pentecost); Mrs. Mary Nyamekye (wife of the Chairman); Apostle Emmanuel Agyemang Bekoe (Missions Director) & wife, Mrs. Deborah Bekoe; Apostle Emmanuel Kwesi Appiah (Director, Evangelism Ministry); Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (PEMEM Director); Apostle Philip Osei Korsah (Director, Counseling Ministry); Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo (National Coordinator, Home and Urban Missions); Apostle John Budu Tawiah (Tamale Area Head); Apostle Emmanuel Tettey (Secretary, Ghana Pentecostal & Charismatic Council), Apostle Julius Asante Ayeh Rtd. (Ag. Techiman Area Head), as well as other Area Heads and Ministers of the Church.

Also present were ministers and their spouses from Ethiopia and South Sudan, where Apostle Amankwah had previously served as a missionary, alongside government officials and traditional rulers.
