The Scripture Union Ghana (SU) has ushered in a new era of leadership with the induction of its newly appointed council officers. At the heart of this transition is Elder Emmanuel Boate, who now assumes the esteemed role of National Council Chairman, succeeding Mr. Morgan Asiedu Fiankor, Esq.
The solemn yet momentous induction service took place at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Kokomlemle, drawing together a diverse assembly of clergy from various Christian denominations. The ceremony underscored SU’s unwavering commitment to youth evangelism and spiritual growth.
Delivering a compelling sermon on the theme “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey,” drawn from Luke 11:26-28 and Mark 1:21-28, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, emphasized the transformative power of obedience to God’s word. He underscored that true blessings are not merely a result of miraculous encounters but are deeply rooted in adherence to God’s divine instructions, which can shape lives and impact generations.
Addressing the crucial role of Scripture Union in youth ministry, Apostle Nyamekye called for renewed dedication to instilling biblical values in young people. He encouraged SU’s leadership to remain steadfast in their mission of evangelizing and nurturing the next generation in the faith.
Rev. Derek Emmanuel Koomson, General Director of Scripture Union Ghana, highlighted the organization’s remarkable strides in reaching over 400,000 young people with the gospel over the past three years. He reaffirmed SU’s commitment to its evangelistic mandate, stating that their goal is to engage at least 5,000 young people annually. He also extended an appeal for support to enhance the organization’s outreach and impact.
In his acceptance speech, Elder Emmanuel Boate expressed profound gratitude to God for the privilege to serve in this capacity. He pledged his unwavering commitment to strengthening the organization’s vision and called on fellow council members to uphold values of dedication, integrity, and diligence in their service.
The induction service was officiated by the former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Very Rev. Prof. Emeritus Emmanuel Martey, adding to the solemnity and significance of the occasion.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost; Rt. Rev. Kwabena Boafo, immediate past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana; Apostle Mike Hammah, former General Director of Scripture Union Ghana; and Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana. The event also saw the participation of students, church leaders, and other key stakeholders dedicated to the cause of youth evangelism.
