The Asenemaso District in the Abuakwa Area of The Church of Pentecost climaxed its Open Heavens Prayer Week with a vibrant cultural service.
The event held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Bethel Assembly under the theme, ‘It is good for us to be here’ (Matthew 17:4), was a spectacular display of Ghana’s rich cultural diversity to emphasise the importance of peace during, before and after the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
The congregants, adorned in their colourful traditional attire, sang melodious songs in various local languages such as Ewe, Twi, Fante, Ga, and Yoruba. They praised God with a mixture of traditional music, cultural performances, and recitations of poems on peaceful elections. Handmade crafts and artworks were also showcased, highlighting the members artistic talents.
Dignitaries and politicians from the area attended the event, including Nana Owusu Appau (III), the Asenemaso Chief and Gyasehene of the Bantama Chief, Nana Adu Boateng (II), the Abesewa Chief, and several parliamentary candidates of the various political parties in the constituency. Hon. Emmanuel Agyei Anwhere, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah of the NDC, and Hon. Shiley Kyei of the NPP were among the notable guests.
Pastor Peter Quayson, the district minister, in an exhortation, stated that culture is a gift from God and should be used to glorify Him.
He encouraged the congregation to leverage their cultural heritage for evangelism and worship, demonstrating how traditional music and dance can enhance spiritual practices.
Pastor Quayson highlighted Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa, having conducted eight consecutive peaceful, free, and fair general elections since 1992. He stressed on the importance of maintaining peace during the upcoming elections.
The Asenemaso Chief praised The Church of Pentecost for the initiative and called for such services to be encouraged across Ghana. He and all the parliamentary aspirants pledged their commitment to peace before, during, and after the elections.
The district minister led the congregation in prayers for the candidates and the nation.
