The Atonsu Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost commemorated this year’s International Women’s Day with an impactful event aimed at empowering women and girls in society.

Held at the S. K. Awere Temple, the occasion saw the auditorium nearly filled to capacity with women elegantly dressed in their ministry attire.

As part of the celebration, there was a panel discussion on the theme, ‘For All Women & Girls’ Rights: Empowerment in Society.’ The discussion focused on recognising and upholding the rights of women and girls, fostering gender equality, and creating opportunities for women to thrive in all spheres of life. The panel touched on various aspects of women’s needs.

During an interview with Pent Radio Kumasi, the Area Women’s Ministry leader, Deaconess Mrs Mary Awere Damoah, urged women to believe in themselves and their capabilities, encouraging them to embrace opportunities for personal and professional growth. She indicated the crucial role women play in both the family and society, advocating for them to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact.

She also advised parents to consult teachers about their children’s capabilities and help them choose careers that align with their interests.

Mrs Mabel Efeh Debrah, the wife of the Atonsu Area Head, also addressed the gathering, focusing on gender equality and women’s empowerment. She stressed the need for women to break barriers and strive for excellence in their respective fields. She further called on women to support one another, challenge societal stereotypes, and take up leadership roles to contribute significantly to the church and the nation.

The event was marked by moments of reflection, inspiration, and a renewed sense of purpose among the women present. Through discussions and motivational speeches, participants were encouraged to take bold steps toward self-improvement and assert their rights in various sectors of society.
