The London South Area Head of The Church of Pentecost in the UK, Apostle Edmund Appiah, has emphasised the divinity of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world who, he asserted, fulfilled all Scripture to reconcile humanity to God.
Delivering a sermon at the Blankson Centre Hatchman Road Assembly, during the Easter convention on the theme, “Only Jesus Can Save You” (Acts 4:8–12, Matthew 17:1–9), Apostle Appiah underscored the supremacy of Christ, insisting that no one who has ever lived, or is yet to come, can be compared to Him.
“Jesus alone was foretold by every prophet. He alone fulfilled all Scripture. He alone conquered death. He alone ascended to the Father. And He alone is coming again,” he declared.
Drawing on the biblical account of the Transfiguration, Apostle Appiah referenced Moses and Elijah, two towering figures in Israel’s history, who appeared alongside Christ. Moses, the deliverer and lawgiver, rescued from death as an infant and later commissioned by God at the burning bush, led Israel out of Egypt and received the Ten Commandments at Sinai. His life, he said, marked by miracles and intimacy with God, pointed prophetically to a greater Deliverer. Elijah, the prophet of fire, confronted King Ahab and Queen Jezebel’s idolatry, proclaimed drought, called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel, and was taken up in a chariot of fire.
According to Apostle Appiah, Moses and Elijah symbolised the Law and the Prophets—the entire Old Testament witness converging upon Christ. Yet, he stressed, Jesus Christ surpasses them both.
“His virgin birth fulfilled prophecy, His teaching carried divine authority, His miracles demonstrated power over sickness, death, and nature itself. His sinless life, sacrificial death, resurrection, and ascension mark Him as unique in all history,” he explained.
He further noted that on the Mount of Transfiguration, God Himself delivered the verdict: “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.”
Apostle Appiah concluded with the uncompromising declaration of the Apostle Peter: “There is salvation in no one else,” underscoring that only Jesus Christ has the power to save and transform lives.
