The Church of Pentecost in the Daboya District of the Tamale Area has marked a major milestone with the dedication of key church and community development projects, climaxed by the historic dedication of the Gbungbonvori TOSM Community-Based Church Building. The ceremony, held on Friday, December 13, was characterised by thanksgiving and praise to God for granting victory after years of resistance to the establishment of the church in the community.
The Gbungbonvori Assembly, which had faced persistent opposition and challenges, celebrated the dedication as a testament to God’s faithfulness and sustaining power. Members recounted how perseverance, prayer, and commitment to the gospel eventually paved the way for the chapel to be officially dedicated to the glory of God, marking a new chapter in the church’s witness within the community.
The dedication service was officiated by Apostle J. B. K. Tawiah, Tamale Area Head, Coordinator of the Northern Regional Coordinating Committee, and a member of the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost. In his address, Apostle Tawiah praised God for His faithfulness and commended the leadership and members of the Gbungbonvori Assembly for their resilience. He encouraged them to remain steadfast, noting that “a church built on faith, prayer, and obedience will always prevail.”
The event drew members of the Area Pastorate, traditional rulers, the Assembly Member, and other opinion leaders from the Gbungbonvori community, whose presence reflected growing acceptance of the church and its positive influence in the area.
Earlier the same day, Apostle Tawiah also dedicated another Community-Based Church Building at Bowena. Established 32 years ago, the Bowena Assembly finally received a permanent place of worship, a development the chiefs and residents described as a long-awaited blessing. Community leaders expressed gratitude to the church for responding to their needs and supporting spiritual growth in the locality.
Beyond church infrastructure, Apostle Tawiah performed a sod-cutting ceremony for an ultra-modern three-unit classroom block for the Daboya Pentecost Preparatory School. The project, awarded by the District Chief Executive, is expected to significantly improve teaching and learning for the school’s 623 pupils and was described as a timely intervention that reinforces the church’s commitment to education and community development.
The programme concluded with the ordination of twelve officers – four Elders, two Deacons, and six Deaconesses – to strengthen leadership in the District. The successful events highlighted the resilience, growth, and developmental impact of The Church of Pentecost in Daboya as it continues to advance the gospel while transforming communities.
