The Nchiraa District of The Church of Pentecost, under the Kintampo Area, has made history by organizing a remarkable gospel outreach targeting ghetto youth, marking the first of its kind in the community.
Dubbed “Jesus Wɔ Kurom”(Jesus is in town), the outreach, initiated by the District’s Home and Urban Missions Committee, drew hundreds of young people who encountered the saving power of Jesus Christ.
The event began with a clean-up exercise at the Nchiraa Health Centre, where the participating youth, many of whom were once considered social outcasts, volunteered their time to tidy the facility’s surroundings. Their act of service left a lasting impression on health workers and patients alike. The Resident Physician Assistant, Mr. Paul Apraku, expressed his amazement at the transformation he witnessed, noting that it was the first time in his years of service that such a group had undertaken such an initiative. He commended The Church of Pentecost for its exemplary efforts in engaging and transforming the youth through practical ministry.
Following the clean-up, the team took to the streets in a vibrant “Jesus Float”, filled with music, dance, and joyful proclamation of the gospel. Residents were captivated by the sight of young men once associated with the ghettos now boldly declaring their faith in Christ. Many onlookers expressed their astonishment at the transformation and the contagious joy displayed by the participants.
A sports fiesta later crowned the event, featuring a friendly football match between ghetto teams from Nchiraa and Jema. The competition attracted a large crowd, creating an atmosphere of excitement, fellowship, and evangelism. The District sponsored meals for all participants, reflecting the Church’s holistic approach to ministry; caring for both the physical and spiritual needs of the people.
To the glory of God, the outreach led to the salvation of 106 souls, with 53 of them receiving water baptism. Addressing the congregation afterward, the District Pastor emphasised that the mission of Jesus Christ is to reach out to the lost and offer hope and salvation. He encouraged the new converts to build a personal relationship with Christ, reminding them that true transformation begins with Him.
The “Jesus Wɔ Kurom” Outreach stands as a milestone in the evangelism drive of The Church of Pentecost, Nchiraa District, proving that the gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to reach and redeem even the most marginalized in society. The event has since rekindled a renewed zeal for evangelism and community transformation among members of the District.
