The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has affirmed that through the power of the Holy Spirit, every believer has the divine capacity to live above sin and walk in true spiritual freedom.
Speaking at a spirit-filled communion service at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)–Tesano on Sunday, 2 November 2025, Apostle Oboubi, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Juliana Korkor Oboubi, preached on the theme “The Two Laws”, drawing from Romans 8:1 2.
He explained that believers are no longer bound by the law of sin and death, which once enslaved humanity, but have been set free by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. According to him, the power of the Holy Spirit now enables Christians to resist sin and live victoriously.
Apostle Oboubi likened the struggle with sin to the force of gravity that constantly pulls everything downward. However, he noted that just as aerodynamics enables an aircraft to rise above gravity, the Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome sin’s pull and soar in righteousness.
He further illustrated this truth by comparing Christ’s redemptive work on the cross to the repeal of an old law. “When Jesus died, He repealed the law of sin and death and enacted a new one — the law of the Spirit of life. This new law gives us power over sin,” he said.
Apostle Oboubi emphasised that this divine law is written not on tablets of stone but in the hearts of believers. Through the indwelling Spirit, Christians can live righteous, Christ-like lives.
The communion service concluded in an atmosphere of gratitude, as worshippers celebrated the liberating truth that in Christ, sin no longer has dominion over them.
