The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has highlighted the boundless power and living nature of God’s Word, describing it as “a dynamic and life-transforming force that sustains all creation.”
Speaking on the topic “The Word of God Is Power,” on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Mount Olives Worship Centre in the Odorkor Area of the Church, Apostle Obuobi drew his key texts from Hebrews 1:1–3 and Hebrews 4:12, emphasizing that “we serve a God who speaks.”
“The gods of other people cannot hear and cannot speak,” he explained. “But our God speaks, and He sustains everything by the power of His Word. The reason everything in creation remains intact is because something is holding everything together – that is the power of the Word.”
He noted that the Word of God is not dead or inactive but “a living reality.”
“The Word of God is alive and powerful,” he said. “It is dynamic, not static; active, not quiet. It is ever at work, not dormant or ineffective. The Word is immanent and ever-present, not silent or distant.”
According to the General Secretary, the Word of God must be understood as a ‘Person’ and not merely as words or symbols on a page.
“The Word of God is Jesus Himself,” Apostle Obuobi stated, referencing Revelation 19:11–13. “To underestimate the power of the Word is to underestimate the power of God, because the Word of God carries the very power of God.”
Citing John 6:63, he continued, “The Word is Spirit and life. Once you embrace the Word of God, you are embracing the Spirit – and you are embracing life itself.”
He further explained that the Word of God has power to convict, regenerate, and cleanse.
“When you encounter the Word, it convicts you of sin and reveals who you truly are,” he said. “Through the Word, we are regenerated, given new birth that comes not from the womb but from the Spirit.”
Apostle Obuobi referenced 1 Peter 1:23 to describe the Word as an imperishable seed that brings spiritual rebirth.
“Every born-again Christian has two births; the natural and the spiritual. The Holy Spirit quickens the Word received by the heart to bring restoration,” he added.
He also highlighted the role of the Word in producing faith.
“Faith is not produced by social media or the news,” he said. “Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). That is why we must feed on the Word daily.”
Touching on the cleansing and healing power of the Word, Apostle Obuobi urged believers to continually “wash themselves with the Word.”
“Within the Word is the power to cleanse and make us whole,” he said, citing Ephesians 5:25–26. “If we want to remain spiritually clean, we must stay in the Word always.”
He concluded that the Word of God brings life where there is death and healing where there is pain.
“Anytime there is an encounter with the Word, death goes away,” Apostle Obuobi affirmed, adding; “The Word of God brings life, brings healing, and brings transformation.”
Present at the service were Apostle Isaac Tetteh Juddah (Odorkor Area Head); Pastor Felix Dela Klutse (Director, Pent Media Centre/Resident Minister, Mount Olives Worship Centre); Pastor Alexander Nyame (National Coordinator, Ministry to Persons With Disabilities); Pastor Dr. Ebenezer Tetteh Kpalam (Resident Minister, Love Worship Centre), and their wives.
