In a spirit-filled and transformative ceremony held at the Revival Centre (Agona Swedru PIWC Auditorium), the Agona Swedru Area of The Church of Pentecost has officially inaugurated the Ministry to Prison Associates, a sub-ministry under the Church’s National Prisons Ministry initiative.
The new ministry seeks to support ex-convicts in their reintegration into society by providing them with employable skills and offering education to their families and the wider community on acceptance and social restoration. The initiative forms part of the Church’s holistic mission to possess the nations through the transformation of lives and communities.
The event, which drew key stakeholders from both the Church and state security institutions, was chaired by the Agona Swedru Area Head, Pastor Adjei Nimako Darkwa. Among the dignitaries present were Pastor DSP Thomas Brefo (National Coordinator, Prisons Ministry), Pastor Noah Sinsah Dari (Agona Swedru Prisons Ministry Coordinator), Elder CSP Alexander Otu Bekoe (Officer-in-Charge, Osamkrom Prison Camp), ASP Ernest Agbo (Prosecutor, Divisional Police Command, Swedru), and other officers from the Ghana Police and Prisons Services.
Delivering his remarks, ASP Ernest Agbo commended The Church of Pentecost for its remarkable contribution to national development through the Possessing the Nations agenda. He testified to the positive impact of the Church’s initiatives on his own family and in rural communities across Ghana.
Elder CSP Alexander Otu Bekoe also praised the Church for its practical role in addressing congestion in Ghana’s prisons, noting that no other denomination has made such tangible investments in the sector. He highlighted, in particular, the Church’s construction of modern prison facilities across the country, which have significantly improved rehabilitation conditions for inmates.
Addressing the gathering, Pastor Adjei Nimako Darkwa reaffirmed the Area’s full support for the Prisons Ministry and expressed deep appreciation to the six Prison Associates who attended the inauguration and shared powerful testimonies of transformation and faith.
In a closing exhortation, Pastor DSP Thomas Brefo emphasized the biblical foundation of the Prison Ministry, calling on society to extend compassion and understanding to ex-convicts. He further encouraged the Associates to remain steadfast in their faith as they rebuild their lives.
With the support of the Area Head, Pastor Brefo officially launched the Agona Swedru Ministry to Prison Associates, marking a significant milestone in the Church’s ongoing mission to restore lives and promote community reintegration.
