The Koforidua Zone of The Church of Pentecost, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, joyfully concluded this year’s Easter Convention with a powerful service led by Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, the Koforidua Area Head.

Preaching the sermon on the theme, ‘He Is Risen,’ Apostle Etrue indicated that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. He affirmed that because Christ has risen, believers have a living hope and the assurance that they too shall one day be resurrected. Unlike other belief systems, Christianity stands on the reality of a risen Saviour, he stated.

Drawing scripture references from 1 Corinthians 15:13-19 and Matthew 28:5-7, Apostle Etrue declared that death could not hold Jesus in the grave as He rose in glory on the third day, demonstrating the power of God and the grace that transforms lives. The empty tomb, he said, stands as proof that Jesus Christ lives, and His resurrection is the very foundation of the believers’ union with Him.

He explained that the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus further validate the truth of His rising. The first witnesses were women, followed by His disciples, and later, the Apostle Paul. These encounters, according to him, changed the course of history and affirmed the message of the risen Christ.

Apostle Etrue also highlighted the message of the angels and Christ’s ascension as confirmation that Jesus conquered death and reigns eternally. The disciples had no need to seek another saviour; they were certain of the One who lives forever.

Touching on the significance of the resurrection, Apostle Etrue noted that it vindicates Jesus as Lord and Saviour, saying, ‘Through His death and resurrection, a new age has been ushered in. Those who are in Christ are made new, no longer bound by sin but liberated to live righteously. When the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.’

He disclosed that the resurrection assures believers of their own future resurrection.

‘Christians are not like those who live without hope; they have the promise that one day, when the trumpet sounds, they shall be caught up to meet the Lord and dwell with Him in glory. The risen Christ is our living hope and blessed assurance,’ he added.

Referencing Romans 5:11, Apostle Etrue reminded the congregation that through Christ’s resurrection, peace, healing, and restoration are available in abundance.

He declared: ‘He is risen, and there is no challenger’

He encouraged the church to walk in power over sin and the bondage of Satan, emphasising that the enemy cannot give life. Only Christ, through His resurrection, has given believers victory and dominion.

He ended by calling for a time of spiritual renewal, urging believers to reflect on their relationship with God.

‘The resurrection brings new life and opens the door to endless possibilities for those who believe. Death could not hold Him, and now, His life lives in us,’ he declared, adding, ‘The resurrected Christ is the only Saviour of the world.’
