The Ho Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a three-day Easter Convention at Ho Central Prisons aimed to minister hope, redemption, and the message of Christ’s death and resurrection to the inmates and officers through worship, teachings, and humanitarian support.

The convention, which took place from April 11-13, 2025, was on the theme, ‘Jesus Is Hope For Your Future’ (Jeremiah 31:17, John 11:23-26).

Through prayer sessions, scripture expositions, and vibrant worship, participants were engaged in a transformative spiritual experience. The programme ended with a powerful session graced by the Ho Area Head, Apostle Dr Dela Quampah, who spoke on the topic, ‘The Resurrection Power Can Open Prison Doors.’

Reading from Jeremiah 31:17, Acts 16:23-27, and John 11:23-26, Apostle Dr Quampah stated: ‘Human problems are God’s opportunities because they create the chance for the demonstration of God’s power.’

He emphasised that prison is prominent in scripture as it shows how God delivered His people from the slavery of sin.

According to him, ‘If bad news is received with a good heart, it will become good news. Some have come to prison and left better persons than they came, and the opposite is true. Others met Christ when they were in prison as they channeled their time into praying and reading God’s word.’

He referenced Biblical characters who went to prison, such as Joseph, who eventually became a prime minister despite being a foreigner; Jeremiah, Peter, Paul, and Silas.

From John 11:23-26, Apostle Dr Quampah stressed that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. No judge has been able to challenge this.

Concluding the message, he said: ‘This resurrection power is available to break any power of addiction and put lives in shape, so no one should harm themselves, for there is a future for everyone.’

The convention yielded 45 souls won for Christ, with 39 of them being baptised in water, publicly declaring their spiritual rebirth. There were testimonies of healings, highlighting the power of the Gospel and the unwavering grace of God, reinforcing the message that faith can bring healing and transformation to all.

Beyond spiritual nourishment, the convention also addressed physical and personal needs of the inmates, demonstrating Christ-like love through charitable donations. The following items were presented to the inmates to ensure their well-being and comfort: 500 packs of cooked Jollof rice, three bags of rice, a bag of sugar, gari, and cassava dough, respectively.

Others were seven packs of toilet rolls, two gallons of palm oil, a box of tin tomatoes, four packs of bottled water, 15 packs of sachet water, four packs of Bigoo drink, two packs of Malta Guinness, packs of toothbrushes and flip-flops, a box of soap, a sack of maize, three packs of diapers and wipes, a big whiteboard, and a box of markers.

This convention was more than an event – it was a divine encounter, reaffirming the power of redemption, the importance of fellowship, and the need for continuous acts of kindness. The lives touched during the programme will continue to serve as testimonies of hope, restoration, and the boundless mercy of Christ.

Also present at the event were Rev Courage Atsu (Chaplain of Ho Central Prisons), Overseer Yayra Martey Agidi (Ho Area Prison Ministry Coordinator), the Area pastorate, Elder Seth and Deaconess Doris Peasa; Elder Dr Makafui Nyamadi (Area Deacon), among others.
