The Cape Coast Sector of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) successfully organised a three-day Residential Leadership Retreat, dubbed the ‘Uncommon Leadership Summit’ (fifth edition), for SCC, SCT, LCC, and Working Committee members in the sector.
Participating institutions included Cape Coast Nursing and Midwifery Training College (CCNMTC), Psychiatric Nursing Training College (PNTC), OLA College of Education (OLACOE), Dunkwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College (DNMTC), Twifo Praso Nursing and Midwifery Training College (TPNMTC), and Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU).
The event concluded on December 1, 2024, at the PENSA CCTU Auditorium, under the leadership of Pastor Blessing Joseph Quayson, the PENSA Travelling Secretary for the sector.
Pastor Patrick Ayitey, Oguaa Abura District Pastor and Cape Coast Area Secretary, opened the summit with a presentation on the theme, ‘Unleashed to Live a Life Worthy of Your Calling.’ Citing Ephesians 4:1-3, he encouraged participants to walk in a manner befitting their divine calling, demonstrating longsuffering, joy, and peace through the unity of the Spirit, while avoiding dubious behaviours.
Elder Evans Darko, a Working Committee member, spoke on ‘Qualities of the Unleashed Campus Leader,’ referencing 2 Corinthians 8:1-24. He emphasised the importance of being exemplary leaders, fostering unity and peace, and maintaining moral integrity, trustworthiness, honesty, and faithfulness in church affairs.
Mrs Esther Mansa Annan Quayson, wife of the Travelling Secretary, led the ‘Yapheh Ladies Conference’ with a talk on ‘Ladies Unleashed to Take Over Their Spheres for Jesus.’ Drawing from Judges 5:7-12, Ruth 3:3, and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, she highlighted the spiritual and moral beauty of women and urged them to be prepared in all aspects before entering pre-marital relationships.
Mrs Evelyn Sackey addressed ‘An Unleashed Lady and Her Health,’ using Ruth 3:3, 2 Timothy 1:7, and 1 Corinthians 6:19. She advised women to take good care of their physical and reproductive health.
Elder Dr Samuel Bruce Rockson, a lecturer at CCTU, presented on ‘Balancing Academic and Campus Leadership,’ referencing 1 Corinthians 10:31, Ecclesiastes 9:10, Proverbs 5:12-13, and Daniel 6:3-5. He stressed the need for discipline, time management, regular class attendance, perseverance, diligence, patience, and prayerfulness to excel in both academic and leadership roles.
Elder Albert Jehoshaphat Mawuli, another Working Committee member, spoke on ‘Reaching Out, Taking Over Everywhere for Christ Jesus,’ citing John 1:40-42. He encouraged leaders to influence their campuses for Jesus through their character and introduced the five pillars of the Reach Out Strategy: Relationship-based, Simplicity, Planning, Consistency, and Motivation.
The prayer and impartation session was led by Pastor Abraham Nana Oppong, Aboom District Minister.
The summit concluded with a presentation by Pastor Blessing Joseph Quayson on ‘Unleashed to be an Example as a Vessel of Honour.’ Referencing 1 Timothy 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:15, Hebrews 4:12, and Proverbs 13:2-3, he urged leaders to be exemplary in all they do, to be filled with the word of God, and to not let anyone look down on them because of their youth.
