Five teams representing the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) have secured places in the quarter-finals of the 2026 National Bible Quiz (NBQ2026), following a strong showing in the one-eighth stage of the competition.
The five teams — PENSA KNUST, PENSA Legon, PENSA UMaT, PENSA UCC and PENSA UDS-NYC — emerged from their respective contests to keep PENSA’s campaign alive in the prestigious Bible quiz.
PENSA KNUST was among the standout performers of the stage, producing a remarkable display by correctly answering all four riddles presented during its contest.
The feat is particularly notable because, according to NBQ Ghana, it is only the second time in the history of the competition that a team has successfully answered all four riddles. DLCF Legon previously achieved the feat in 2023.
PENSA KNUST went on to win its contest ahead of DLCF UHAS and EPSU Legon, earning a place in the quarter-finals.
PENSA UDS-NYC also recorded a notable victory after defeating three-time institutional champions NUBS UDS-NYC. The result was significant for the PENSA side, having previously suffered defeat to the same opponent earlier in the year.
The UDS-NYC team also produced the highest individual score of the day, earning the Highest Scorer of the Day Award.
PENSA UCC secured its quarter-final berth after overcoming AGCM UHAS and GESAM KTU, while PENSA Legon advanced after finishing ahead of GHAMSU UENR and NUPS-G UPSA.
PENSA UMaT completed the list of qualifiers after defeating GNAAS UDS and GHAMSU UHAS.
The five PENSA teams will now face a new test in the quarter-finals, with the draw producing an all-PENSA encounter in one of the contests.
PENSA KNUST will face PENSA Legon and DLCF KNUST in Contest 3, guaranteeing that one PENSA team will progress from the group.
In Contest 6, PENSA UMaT will compete against Newbreed KNUST and GHAMSU UMaT.
PENSA UDS-NYC has been drawn in Contest 7 alongside DLCF Legon and AGCM Legon, while PENSA UCC will face AGCM KNUST and NUPS-G UHAS in Contest 9.
With five teams through to the quarter-finals, PENSA will be looking to maintain its momentum as NBQ2026 enters the decisive stages of the competition.
The quarter-finals are expected to provide another stern test for the teams as they battle for places in the semi-finals and ultimately the opportunity to compete for the NBQ2026 title.
