The Nyankpala District of The Church of Pentecost has supported pupils in four schools with essential educational materials as part of an initiative to ease the burden on families at the beginning of the new academic year.
The exercise, dubbed an operation to “Send the children back to school,” was undertaken at Nyankpala D/A School, Nyankpala Model School, UDS Basic School and Galinkpegu D/A Primary School.
Led by the District Pastor, Pastor Emmanuel Ofori-Opare, the initiative brought together church leaders, teachers and school authorities to provide practical support to pupils in the four beneficiary schools.
The District distributed 1,500 exercise books, 200 pens, 100 sanitary pads, seven school uniforms, seven school bags and seven pairs of shoes to the pupils.
The intervention was aimed at helping to reduce some of the financial pressures families face in preparing their children for a new school term while encouraging the pupils to remain committed to their education.
The Area Schools Outreach Ministry Coordinator and Sanarigu District Minister, Overseer Jeffery Asamoah graced the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the District Financial Secretary, Elder Dr Edward Martey, encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously, study hard and show respect to their parents.
Drawing inspiration from Luke 2:40, which recounts the growth of the child Jesus in wisdom, stature and favour with God and people, Elder Dr Martey urged the pupils to cultivate discipline and good values as they pursued their education.
He reminded them that their parents are gifts from God and therefore deserve their honour and respect.
According to him, education and discipline would equip the children to grow into responsible individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
The event was attended by key leaders of the Nyankpala District, including Elder Kwajo Shadrack, District Children’s Ministry Leader; Deaconess Mary Azumah, District Women’s Ministry Leader; and Osofomame Gloria Ofori-Opare, wife of the District Pastor.
Also present were the Headmasters of the beneficiary schools, including Mr Sumani Charles of Nyankpala D/A School, Mr Haadi Alhassan of Nyankpala Model School and Mr Ibrahim Saaka Alhassan of UDS Basic School, as well as management and teaching staff of the four schools.
The initiative reflects the Nyankpala District’s commitment to extending its ministry beyond the church environment and contributing to the educational and social development of children within its communities.
For the beneficiaries, the exercise provided much-needed learning materials and school essentials while offering encouragement as they commenced the new academic year.
