The Director of Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and Executive Council member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, has called on young politicians and leaders to rise to the challenge of moral leadership in a secularised world.
He said this at the Younger Generation Politicians and Leaders Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh on October 10, 2024. The event was on the theme, ‘Tomorrow Today: The Place of the Young Politician/Leader in Ghana’s Moral Vision and National Development.’
Delivering a paper on the topic, ‘Christian Leadership in a Secular World,’ Apostle Anane Denteh highlighted the challenges young leaders face in integrating their faith with their political roles.
Emphasising the importance of upholding God’s kingdom values, he reminded the youth that Christian leadership is not just about personal faith but about bringing transformational change to society.
‘Christ’s ministry was full of action embedded in kingdom values,’ he noted, encouraging the young leaders to be active agents of change rather than mere observers in the political arena.
The PEMEM Director also indicated how secularism, with its promotion of moral relativism and separation of religious values from public life, threatens to erode the ethical foundations of leadership.
He cited the biblical perspective, Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, urging young leaders to resist secular pressures and stand firm in their beliefs.
‘Christian leaders must model integrity, compassion, and service in every aspect of their leadership, even when faced with the moral compromises that often come with public office,’ he strongly called.
Apostle Anane Denteh stressed on the need for mentorship, with a call for young Christian politicians to be paired with experienced leaders who can guide them in navigating both faith and politics. This approach, according to him, would ensure that the next generation of leaders are not only equipped with the skills to govern but with the moral courage to lead with conviction.
He charged young Christian politicians to embody moral leadership, influencing national development with values rooted in faith, and shaping a future where politics and morality are intertwined.
