The funeral service for the late Queen Elizabeth II is being held today in the United Kingdom. The landmark event at the Westminster Abbey in London has seen numerous leaders from around the world arrive at the invitation of King Charles III. In an interesting turn, however, all heads of state and royals were billed to appear at the Westminster Abbey via a bus with the exception of the US president, Joe Biden who was driven in his official vehicle, ‘The Beast. Though this move raised some eyebrows, it was followed through. These leaders are there to commiserate with the British people and pay their last respects to the former head of the Commonwealth. Charles is the new King of the United Kingdom

International, World News
At the moment the Queen died, the throne passed immediately and without ceremony to the heir, Charles, the former Prince of Wales. But there are a number of practical – and traditional – steps which he must go through to be crowned King. © NADAV KANDER What will he be called? One of his first acts is to decide whether to reign as King Charles III, or take another name. For instance, his grandfather George VI’s first name was Albert, but he reigned using one of his middle names. Charles could choose from any of his four names – Charles Philip Arthur George. He is not the only one who faces a change of title. Although he is heir to the throne, Prince William will not automatically become Prince of Wales. However, he immediately inherits his father’s other title, Duke of...

Climate change worsens 58% of human diseases – Research

International, World News
Climate change is causing more than 58% of human diseases to worsen according to a new study. Climate change is affecting 218 of the 375 diseases studied, bringing people closer to pathogens and weakening their immune systems. “For instance, failure of the human immune system to adjust to large changes in temperature was suggested as a likely mechanism to explain outbreaks of influenza. Likewise, stress, via changes in cortisol and down-regulation of inflammatory response, can reduce the body’s capacity to cope with diseases.” Heatwaves have been linked to an increase in the spread of waterborne diseases such as Vibrio and gastroenteritis, according to researchers at Mamoa’s University of Hawaii. “The compilation of pathogenic diseases aggravated by climatic hazards repres...
