Meta Agrees To $8 Billion Privacy Lawsuit Settlement

General News, International, Pent TV, World News
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and ten current and former executives, including ex-COO Sheryl Sandberg and board member Marc Andreessen, have agreed to settle an $8 billion shareholder lawsuit alleging failures to prevent major privacy breaches. Shareholders accused Meta’s leadership of negligence surrounding unlawful data practices, which led to substantial financial and reputational risks for the company. The lawsuit highlighted Meta’s record $5 billion fine by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2019 for data privacy lapses. As part of the settlement, the executives did not admit wrongdoing, but the move is seen as pivotal in restoring investor confidence and recommitting Meta to stronger compliance and user data protection going forward. Samsung Profit Slumps: AI Chip Issues And Export Curbs Hit Q2 Earnings

Business News, General News, International, Science & Technology, World News
Samsung Electronics has forecast a sharp 56% drop in second-quarter operating profit, attributing the decline to sluggish AI chip sales and tightening U.S. export restrictions to China. The tech giant expects operating profit to fall to 4.6 trillion won ($3.3 billion), marking its weakest performance in six quarters and raising concerns about its competitiveness in the fast-growing AI semiconductor sector. Delayed shipments of high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to Nvidia, a key client, and new U.S. export rules disrupting business in China have significantly impacted earnings. Meanwhile, domestic rival SK Hynix has surged ahead, securing major AI chip supply deals. Despite the challenging outlook, Samsung has announced a 3.9 trillion won ($2.8 billion) share buyback, signalling confid...

It features a star-studded voice cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill, Roman Griffin Davis, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley and Oscar Isaac. Kristin Chenoweth both co-wrote and sings the film’s...
