Ghana defeated Nigeria 3-1 on penalties to win the first edition of the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup in Kumasi. The Black Princesses took a first half lead through captain Stella Nyamekye in the 38th minute as she converted a spot. The Falconets started the game pressing high in search of the opener but failed to convert their chances. Nigeria came close to scoring in the 16th minute but were denied by Afi Amenyaku who pushed the ball over the bar. The Black Princesses of Ghana completed the host and win assignment on Saturday, June 3, as they beat Nigeria in the final of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations. The game at the Baba Yara Stadium travelled to penalty shootouts after both teams scored a goal each within 90 minutes of play. Stella Nyamekye opened the scoring for Ghana in the first half, stepping up from the spot after Comfort Owusu was fouled in the box. Black Stars defender, Tariq Lamptey, together with his charity institution, Tariq Lamptey Foundation, on Tuesday, May 30, were in Asamankese to make a donation to two schools as part of his annual activity. The donation is part of Tariq’s yearly charity works in Ghana which he started five years ago during his time at Chelsea. The Brighton and Hove Albion star is in Ghana as part of his short holidays before starting pre-season ahead of the 2023/24 season. The police have arrested 48 illegal miners following their emergence from a mine shaft belonging to AngloGold Ashanti on Tuesday afternoon. These individuals were part of a group of 300 illegal miners who had entered the mine shaft in search of gold deposits but became trapped in one of the shafts. NFL side, Philadelphia Eagles have collaborated with American Football Highschool team Imhotep Panthers to launch a stem water project in the Volta Region. The project is to help address environmental snd sustainability issues as result of climate change. According to the Director of Science of Imhotep Panters, Shelly Pozzy says the aim of the project is to help make water in rural areas in Ghana safe to drink. “This project is one of our many projects where we actually give back to our community and we focus on addressing change in our community.
