Apostle James Asare Calls For Continuous Outpouring Of The Holy Spirit

The Odorkor Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle James Kwabena Asare, has called on Christians to pursue continuous spiritual renewal and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, warning that believers can become spiritually dry when they disconnect from God.

He made the call when he delivered a message titled “The Latter Rain: The Three Volumes of Water in the Spirit” at the maiden edition of the Odorkor Area’s monthly prayer program, “Now or Never,” held on September 29, 2026, at the Sampson Okyere Memorial Temple at Mallam in Accra.

Drawing from John 1:33–34, Apostle Asare emphasised that the Spirit of God must not only come upon believers but must remain with them, using the baptism of Jesus as an example of the Spirit of God resting upon His chosen One.

According to him, the call was to encourage believers to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, be revived in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and continually seek the outpouring of the Spirit.

Using the imagery of water, Apostle Asare identified three dimensions of spiritual experience: the water in the well, the water in the river, and the water from the rain.

Referring to John 4:4–14, Apostle Asare explained that the well represents the individual believer, noting that salvation is the entrance into the Kingdom of God and access to divine blessings.

He noted that Jesus went to the well to meet the Samaritan woman because He intended to impact her life, although she had gone there seeking ordinary water. He said that while the woman went to the well for ordinary water, she left having received Jesus Himself, who is the source of living water.

According to him, salvation must be lived individually, just as each person has an individual well.

He, however, cautioned that a well can dry up when there is no rainfall. Similarly, Christians can experience spiritual dryness when they allow bitterness and unrepentance to take root, neglect fellowship, disconnect from the Lord, or continue living in sin.

The second dimension, he explained, is represented by the river, which speaks of the presence and baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Referencing John 7:38–39, Apostle Asare said Jesus is the source of living water and that those who believe in Him will have “rivers of living water” flowing from within them.

He nevertheless pointed out that a river can also dry up if it is not replenished by rain.

In the same way, he said, believers can become spiritually dry when they fail to grow in the things of God.

The third dimension is the rain, which Apostle Asare associated with continuing in the Holy Spirit.

Citing Joel 2:21–22 and Zechariah 10:1, he explained that when the well is dry, it takes rain to fill it, and when the river is dry, it takes rain from above to replenish it.

He said the coming of the rain brings a dimension of spiritual renewal that makes the Christian “unstoppable”.

According to Apostle Asare, the latter rain brings hope, continuous and unstoppable flow, widespread coverage, the breaking of resistance, fertility, fruitfulness, freshness, revival and renewal.

He therefore urged believers not to be satisfied with their initial spiritual experience but to continually seek the presence and outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
