A Kenyan man who returned home from the Democratic Republic of Congo has died from Ebola, marking Kenya’s first confirmed imported case.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said on Tuesday that the man travelled through Uganda before arriving in Nairobi. He was admitted to Nairobi Hospital and placed in isolation but died on Monday night.
Health officials are following up with 28 people who had contact with him, including family members and health workers. They are also tracing 23 passengers and four crew members who were on his flight.
Duale urged Kenyans to remain calm as authorities work to prevent further infections and encouraged anyone feeling unwell to seek medical attention.
