Thousands of members of The Church of Pentecost have thronged the Sampson Okyere Memorial Temple at Mallam in Accra for the maiden edition of the Odorkor Area’s new monthly prayer programme, dubbed “Now or Never”.
The inaugural prayer conference, which officially commenced on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, was characterised by a remarkable display of anticipation, spiritual hunger and fervent prayer.
As the programme drew closer, vehicles conveying officers and members from various assemblies within the Odorkor Area streamed into the venue. Church members alighted with excitement and eagerness to participate in the inaugural gathering.
The arrival of the vehicles was carefully coordinated by a team of guides wearing distinctive “Now or Never” jackets. They directed the vehicles into the premises and helped maintain order as more participants arrived at the auditorium.
The large turnout created a vibrant atmosphere even before the service began, with the auditorium soon filled with resounding worship and prayer.
Members joined in spirited worship and song ministrations led by The New Song (TNS) and other song ministers from the Area.
The programme also attracted a strong representation of the pastorate and their wives, both active and retired. Among those present were Apostle Emmanuel Asante (Retired) and Apostle Dr Paul Danso, Director of The Church of Pentecost Counselling Ministry (COPCOM).
The maiden prayer conference was chaired by the Odorkor Area Head and brainchild of the programme, Apostle James Kwabena Asare, who explained that the initiative was inspired by the biblical account of Esther in Esther 4:16.
According to him, Esther called on the Jews to fast and pray at a critical moment when the future of her people was at stake. She subsequently took the bold step of approaching the king despite the danger involved, an action that resulted in favour and a turnaround in the destiny of the Jews.
Apostle Asare said Christians must approach critical moments in their lives with the same sense of urgency, emphasising that there are moments when “it is now or never”.
He further reminded the gathering that Christians are citizens of the Kingdom of God and encouraged them to recognise God as the ultimate source of their prosperity and breakthrough.
The maiden edition was held under the theme, “The Holy Spirit”, with Apostle Asare emphasising that “we are beginning this programme with the Holy Spirit as its foundation.”
Following a powerful ministration of the Word on the topic, “The Latter Rain: The Three Volumes of Water in the Spirit,” Apostle Asare led the pastorate and elders present in laying hands on participants and praying for those with various needs.
The intensive prayer session that followed was marked by what participants described as a clear manifestation of the move of the Holy Spirit.
The “Now or Never” programme is scheduled to take place every Tuesday of the Lord’s Supper week, providing members within the Odorkor Area with a dedicated time for prayer, spiritual renewal and seeking God’s intervention.
The maiden edition ended with a strong sense of spiritual expectation, setting the tone for subsequent editions of the monthly prayer programme.
