The Director of the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Samuel Avornyo, has urged church leaders not to change the Great Commission to a Great Omission.
Pastor Avornyo said this when addressing ministers, children workers, officers, and parents in the Abirem Agona Zone on Thursday, March 13, 2025, during his ‘Vision Casting Visit’ to the Elmina Area of the church.
The Children’s Director emphasized that any soul-winning effort that neglects children as a target for evangelism or as a medium through which God can win other souls becomes a Great Omission rather than the Great Commission.
‘For me, the letter ‘C’ in the Great Commission represents Children. Children have souls that need to be won. They must not be ignored while they are young. The gospel is about the good news of Jesus Christ, but the messengers or carriers of this good news can vary and may include children too. Therefore, any Great Commission that omits children is a Great Omission,’ he said, adding, ‘It is time we become more intentional about child evangelism and groom them to develop evangelism as a lifestyle.’
Pastor Avornyo and the National Executive Committee (NEC) members of the Children’s Ministry are currently visiting various Areas in the Central Region to engage stakeholders on the ministry’s 2028 Strategic Plan.
The Elmina Area Head, Apostle Lawrence Oduro Nyarko, along with pastors and their wives in the Area, attended the programme.
