Government Launches New Electric Buses, Empowers Women Drivers

The Government of Ghana has unveiled a fleet of electric buses, marking a significant step in the nation’s transition to greener public transportation.

This initiative not only aims to reduce carbon emissions but also prioritizes gender inclusion. As part of the project, several women have undergone specialized training and are now certified drivers of the electric buses, contributing to the advancement of Ghana’s sustainable development goals.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and inclusivity in the workforce. He emphasized that the initiative reflects Ghana’s determination to modernize its transport sector while creating equal opportunities for all citizens.

The introduction of these electric buses is expected to improve public transportation services, empower women, and promote environmental sustainability, aligning with the country’s broader development agenda.
