A Graphic Design lecturer, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology (FAST) at the Koforidua Technical University, Samuel Osei Sarpong, has made a special donation to the University.
Mr. Sarpong presented 83 handcrafted key holders to the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Owusu on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, flanked by the Registrar, Evelyn Fafa Adom, and Professor Joseph Osei, Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST).
‘As a lecturer, usually, I have to go for keys at the security post and sometimes it takes a long time to identify a particular key because either the number is rubbed off or it is made of paper…. So I thought it wise why not to, in my small way help the University by creating these handcrafted ‘key holders’’ he noted.
Mr. Sarpong, a deacon of the Church of Pentecost, Evangel Assembly Koforidua, revealed that in the second phase of his project, he will tackle the rest of the offices in the University.
Receiving the donation, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor John Owusu commended Mr. Sarpong for the thoughtful gesture.
‘I am happy you did this one on your own. You used local materials and, you as a graphic designer, you have put your skills into practice and that is the outcome of what we see today’’, he added.
He however encouraged him to continue to help the institution wherever he thinks there is a need to do so.
The 83 key holders presented will serve as the main Administration Block of the University and FAST.
